You woke up early, stopped at your favorite coffee shop for a drink on your way into work and you’re feeling more than ready to face the day. That is, until you open your laptop and get totally work-blocked by Outlook asking for your password over and over without reprieve. A true modern office nightmare.
While extremely frustrating, there are simple steps you can take to easily troubleshoot and address the root of the error message.
In the video, one of Impact’s expert service desk team members, Alec England, walks through three different solutions that resolve the error message and ensure that you’re correctly logged into Outlook.

Logging Out and In
The first way to troubleshoot when Outlook keeps prompting for your password is through a simple log-out, log-in procedure that looks like this:
Step 1: Click File in the top-left corner
Step 2: Select Office Account on the left-hand side
Step 3: Under User Information, click Sign out
Step 4: Sign back in
Clearing Credentials
If logging out of the system completely and logging back in doesn’t do the trick, you can try clearing your credentials entirely with these five easy steps:
Step 1: Search for and select Credential Manager
Step 2: Scroll down the list in Windows Credentials to find Microsoft Office
Step 3: Click the arrow to open the full details
Step 4: Click Remove, then select Yes
Step 5: Repeat for any other entries of Microsoft or Office
Office Application Quick Repair
Finally, if Outlook keeps asking for your password after trying the first two solutions, you can address the issue with the quick repair tool by taking the following steps:
Step 1: Search for and select Control Panel
Step 2: Under Programs, select Uninstall a program
Step 3: Scroll to find Microsoft 365
Step 4: Right click and select Change
Step 5: Make sure Quick Repair is selected and click Repair
